Things You Need To Know About Gingivitis

The inflammation in the gum area around teeth is known as gingivitis. This symptom can be quite painless. So the individual having it may not now that they are actually having this problem. Now, you may wonder if this problem is curable. Well, this problem is absolutely curable and things can revert back to normal if you pay proper attention to it. Having that said, there are a few things you may want to know about gingivitis.

Reasons behind gingivitis

The process of plaque building keeps happening round the clock. So, you have to make sure that you are cleaning this plaque on daily basis. However, this plaque can get hardened and turn into tartar if it is not cleaned properly. This tartar can irritate the gums, leading to the gum infection. If the tartar is not cleaned on time, it can allow more plaque to gather on it. Hence, the problem of gingivitis starts from here.

The most common reason for gingivitis is thought to be the poor oral hygiene. However, there are many other things which can result in gingivitis. For instance, hormonal change during pregnancy can result in gingivitis. Having that said, puberty and menopause can also result in gingivitis because these hormonal changes at quite a big level are associated with these conditions. Furthermore, smoking and several medical conditions such as diabetes and vitamin deficiency can also result in gingivitis.

How to tell if you have gingivitis?

The first sign of gingivitis you should be concerned about is the small amount of blood in the sink when you brush your teeth. Moreover, the color of your gums changes to red from pink when you get this condition. While it may be hard for you to identify condition by simply looking into the mirror, you need to visit your dentist to get your oral cavity examined. The oral health professionals are quite experienced and they will be able to tell you about this condition with a mere glance at your teeth and gums.

Is the problem curable?

Since it is the initial phase of gum disease, you can get rid of it by essentially removing the tartar which irritates your gums. At this level, your gums would not have much of infection which you will need to get the specific treatment of. You will just have to make sure that your gums are not being irritated by the plaque. Therefore, you can ask your dentist to help you with the proper cleaning of your teeth. The removal of tartar will set things towards the reversal of this medical condition.

Can Marijuana be Used to Treat Depression?

As a society, we have finally begun to recognize the importance of taking care of one’s mental health. The United States has also finally begun to realize how effective medical marijuana can be for treating certain conditions. Marijuana usage is not limited to people with physical diseases and ailments. In fact, more and more marijuana patients across the country have access to their state’s medical marijuana program for mental health conditions like depression and anxiety. The year 2020 was a bad one for a lot of people, and much of this had to do with causes related to the pandemic.

There were rampant spikes in mental health problems across the entire nation – one study states that there was an estimated 35% increase in the number of adults in America experiencing symptoms of depression in the last couple years. How many people in the U.S. do you think suffer from depression? Well, even if you think that it’s a lot, the number might still surprise you. It is estimated that around 16.2 million adults in our country have one form of depression – needless to say, it’s a big deal. Today, I wanted to take some time to talk about how medical marijuana can be used to treat symptoms of depression, and why you should and could be using cannabis instead of other prescription drugs.

Now, I want to set the record straight before we get too far into this; the best form of treatment for depression is therapy with a licensed counselor or mental health professional. Most other forms of treatment are merely band aids to help cope with some of the worst symptoms that depression has to offer, but they will likely not solve all of your problems that are the root cause. Prescription medications are often coupled with therapy when treating depression. Antidepressants are helpful for patients in some circumstances, but they also have a pretty bad reputation.

Not only are they synthetically produced, but they also vary widely in the type of results patients will have. One patient may find a certain medication to be very effective, while another patient may have an increase in depressive symptoms. However, what about using medical marijuana for depression? After all, depression is one of the qualifying conditions for getting a medical marijuana card in a number of states across the country.

Can it be used to effectively treat depression? Well, we unfortunately do not have enough studies to determine exactly how effective it is, but we do know that it has the potential. Many studies have shown that marijuana, specifically strains with high CBD contents, can be very therapeutic for people experiencing depression and anxiety. After all, marijuana is a drug that can boost your mood and increase energy – both of which are normally hampered by symptoms of depression. In any case, it is important to keep in mind that there are risks when using marijuana.

The safest way to consume marijuana is to talk to your doctor or medical health professional before consuming it. After all, policies and laws surrounding medical marijuana usage are making it easier to find more information before actually trying weed. It’s best to discuss your health with an expert when trying out any medication, so why wouldn’t it be the same for marijuana? Some people can also become dependent on marijuana if they use it too much. When it comes to using cannabis to treat depression, I think that the best thing you can do is to find a strain that works for you and use it in moderation, on your own terms.

Indoor or Outdoor Cannabis Growing

The debate between growing cannabis out in the sun or inside is quite a polarizing one for some people. A lot of consumers will swear only by cannabis grown outside like normal plants, others are fine with getting it inside under lights that are artificial and in an environment that’s controlled. This can be good for a lot of people, especially, since it can affect the way that it looks and smells, and some people want the consistency of indoor growing.

It might be hard to determine which one is better than the other, since of course everything is subjective, but here are the pros and cons for both of them.

Sun growing Pros

This is something that is good if you want the natural growth of cannabis. This is a lot more powerful than any sort of grow light can create. Outdoor cannabis gets a lot of light from other sources too. It also can change the air that comes in due to what’s going on.  There are also different stressors that improve the cannabinoids.

It also reduces the environmental impact. This is because it goes outside, and you usually just have to make sure that the growing factors are right for this.

Greenhouses are of course similar, but the costs are a bit higher than just straight outside. However, both are cheaper than growing inside.

It also offers terpene profiles that are unique. It can definitely be a good way to create different flavor profiles.  You can change the factors of the environment, and also help to make it so that these different plants work in different ways.

Remember, no two strains are going to be the same especially when growing outside.

What about Indoors

Indoor growing is great for the control of the environment. Remember that cannabis plants are a bit more sensitive inside, and you can adjust and control the factors. You can provide the ideal growing medium, and it can impact the way that they grow. For instance, if you’re able to create a strain of beautiful and attractive plants that look unique, consumers will like that. An indoor growth cycle helps you achieve this.

It also is something that lets you get the bag appeal, or standardization. This is something that a lot of medical patients want, since it means that everything is super standard. Controlled environments offer consistent smells and looks, and this can be great if you’re trying to boost the trichomes in the plants or if you want to grow plants for certain medical conditions.

Finally, one of the main benefits of this, is that you don’t have to harvest at the same time as the outdoor growers, you can do this all year round. It’s basically something that you can cultivate whenever you feel like it.

Tons of growers that are indie are able to grow inside because it helps them get plants that would otherwise not make it, due to the major changes in temperatures and weather.  It’s great for a lot of places that are trying to get their foot in the door with legalized cannabis. While the yields won’t be as supreme  as the typical outdoor cultivation, if you’re harvesting a lot, in a way you can make up for it.

There is no one type that’s better than the other, anyone who says that is someone who is just trying to sound snobby. But both are considered valid means to grow cannabis and are two of the most popular ways to grow these. Many people can benefit from both, and they offer tons of great results.

Cannabis And Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a pathology that can cause a lot of symptoms, including vision loss that becomes gradual, to the point of blindness. Some researchers have looked for the reasons behind this, and a lot of conventional treatments usually only slow this down, not fix it. But some have found that cannabis may help with this, and here is what we know.

What Glaucoma is

This is basically a disease that degrades your optic nerves, which is a part of the CNS that cause short impulses to happen from your eyes directly to the brain. This is one of the most major causes of overall blindness, and it impacts people of all ages, but those over the age of 60 tend to be at a much larger risk for this. Right now, about 70 million people in the entire world experience this, and because it’s so elusive for many, less than half of the populace even know that they might have it. This can result in vision problems, how you close your eyes, and even how it fires to the nerves.

Cannabis for Glaucoma

A lot of people deal with glaucoma, and some may choose to use cannabis in a lot of cases. In order to properly understand, we first must get a good loo at out ECS, and how this is able to properly regulate the eye in most cases. Your ECS is actually responsible for the production and stimulation of the optic nerves, and it helps with homeostasis.

So what works for this? THC may, and a lot of cannabis users have started to use THC to help with this, as it can activate your CB1 receptors. This actually can also activate the CB2 receptor too. In a study that looked at rodents, primates, and rabbits, they looked to see whether or not this would help with modulating the condition and some of the symptoms. There were some cases where it was found, and because of how neuroprotective THC is, it can help with the optic nerve. This is also why many who have Parkinson’s are looking to use cannabinoids to help with the treatment of this as well.

What about CBD?

How does this CBD fit into this? CBD is one of the most popular cannabinoids in a lot of cases, since it doesn’t create psychoactive effects in people. More and more breeders are experimenting with strains that are high in this. The problem with CBD is that it doesn’t have a lot of affinity for the receptors, but it does bind to TRPV-1, and also influences the enzymes in a lot of cases. Glaucoma treatment though? There is research that says the anandamide levels actually can be elevated, and it does inhibit some of the enzymes responsible for breaking down stuff.

Despite this though, there is no research which says this, and there is some studies that actually mention that the intraocular pressure does increase in those with glaucoma, which can make the condition worse. Right now though, some people who have glaucoma use CBD to help with nausea and pain, two of the most common symptoms that come along with this.

Some have found however that CBG may be a promising type of cannabinoid to help with this. It can help with a lot of conditions including IBD, neurological conditions, and the like, and it can possibly help with glaucoma. Right now, the research is still early on, but there is a chance that cannabis can help with this, and for a lot of people, it can be the answer they need for their glaucoma treatments too.
